THE FILM MUSIC FESTIVAL
From 15 to 21 June, 2010
Introduction
During a week several international youth orchestras will meet in Cadiz province, by the Atlantic coastline, to participate in an open festival. Every day all orchestra members will participate in music seminars, cultural and sports activities and sightseeing’s. Every afternoon each orchestra will be able to play on their own on different cities a full concert program. Half part of the concert program must include music of a well known film / movie.
Cadiz province, a marvellous backdrop for classical music
The province of Cadiz, by the Atlantic shore line limits to the south with the Gibraltar Strait, the Mediterranean and Africa, and was since the beginning of Spain´s history a gateway where the first inhabitants of the Iberian Peninsula, the Phoenicians started trading with the local civilization of Tartessos. The Bay of Cadiz is where is located the Puerto de Santa Maria, known together with Jerez de la Frontera, for its Sherry wine factories, for the Andalusian Horses and for being one of the cradles of the best Flamenco music. Also known for its white sandy beaches and its perfect climate.
Dates:
The dates of the festival will be from 15 ( arrival day) to 21st ( departure) 2010 in Puerto de Santa Maria (Cadiz).
The participation on this festival includes: 6 night accommodation, full board basis, all ground transportation, all cultural activities and sightseeing´s, all concert arrangements and the participation
Calendar
The Festival begins on June 15th, 2010, the arrival date of the different orchestra groups to Puerto de Santa Maria ( Cadiz) Upon arrival, groups will be met by organizers and taken to their lodgings. Before dinner, each orchestra group will meet another group staying in the same city in order to exchange experiences.
The mornings of the 16th,18th, 19th, and 20th of June 2010 will be spent in visiting points of interest in the city of lodging: museums, monuments, cathedrals, etc., as well as meeting with other choral groups.
After lunch (around 4 PM), each choral group will be taken to its designated concert site for rehearsal and subsequent performance. At the concert´s conclusion, the groups will have dinner and return to their respective hotels.
Preliminary
Tuesday June 15
Afternoon Orchestras arrival .All the different orchestra members will arrive. First contacts with other orchestra members for exchanging experiences. Dinner and overnight stay.
Wednesday June 16th
Morning encounter with all the different orchestras. Cultural and leisure activities in the morning. Afternoon rehearsal times for the different orchestras. Lunch and dinner will be included.
Thursday June 17th
Music workshops, cultural and leisure activities during the morning. In the afternoon each different orchestra will depart for their own first concert in the area. Overnight stay.
Friday June 18th
Music workshops, cultural and leisure activities during the morning. In the afternoon each different orchestra will depart for their own second concert in the area. Overnight stay
Saturday June 19th
Music workshops, cultural and leisure activities during the morning. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight stay.
Sunday June 20th
Music workshops, cultural and leisure activities during the morning. In the afternoon each different orchestra will depart for their own third and final concert in the area.
Monday June 21st
End of the Festival. The orchestras will depart after breakfast.
Selected Venues
We offer during the 6 night accommodation three to four concerts in the different areas and cities by the Bay of Cadiz. We will be able to get confirmed the definitive venues one year before the festival will start, but we guarantee that those venues will be the most modern auditoriums, large theatres and open air spaces with excellent acoustic.
The organization
The full organization of this festival is by Perform in Spain together with the different Cultural departments of the main major cities and the local youth orchestras.
Types of Orchestras and Repertoire
The festival is open for any international youth orchestra who wish to participate. We will ask you to bring a half part of your concert program that will include some of the film/movies most famous and well known soundtracks. The other half part of the program will be open for you.
Registration
We will start receiving the registration forms at the end of 2008 and the registration will be open until the end of 2009. From December 2008 to December 2009.
Fill application form
We will expect to receive many requests from different international youth orchestras, and the festival will be only open for 4 to 6 different orchestras this first time. However, we will do our best to help you and to try to put your orchestra inside the festival.
For that reason we will ask you to fill the participation form and to contact us as soon as possible.
